- Blues as a song structure is
12 bars long and a 1 - 4 - 5 progression.
- 1 = the key of the song
- 4 = the forth note of that key in this case the "4 Chord" of the song in this song "D".
- 5 = The "5 Chord" of the key and in this case the fifth note/chord or" E".
Play the 1st Pattern in A
- A Chord - Use your first finger on the 4th string - 2nd fret. Pick down from your 5th string and hit both strings. A down stroke is fine for this. Alternate with your third finger on the 4th string - 4th fret back and fourth
- Keep the underside of your wrist on the bridge slightly at the top. Use
your wrist and "Twist" up and down to pick both strings.
USE YOUR;
Wrist - for each string
Arm - for strumming chords ( not now )
Play the 2nd Pattern in D
- 1st finger - 3rd string - 2nd fret. Pick down on both 4th and third string, same time.
- Alternate 3rd finger to the 4th fret - 3rd string. Pick down. Keep your
wrist on the bridge. This is called "Anchoring"
Return to the 1st Pattern
Play the 3rd Pattern in E
- Play - 1st finger - 5th string - 2nd fret.
- Pick down from the 6th string an hit 6th and 5th string at same time.
